Counting Joys

Illustration of Andrew Peterson, to accompany an article written by my wife on his new album Counting Stars in the Curator magazine.

Andrew's music and writing has spurred me on in a pursuit of truth, goodness and beauty for many years.

Can't Ignore the Poor

T-shirt design for my buddy Brandt.  He can often be found traveling by a grease-powered school bus around the country, loving those with their backs against the wall.  He has just made a film about his experiences on the road.  The image is one of his heroes, Dorothy Day, who built a lifestyle around the idea that love for the poor flows out of love for God.

Sometimes We Go to New York.

Last weekend I went up to NYC with some friends for the annual International Arts Movementconference.  It has become a family reunion of sorts, a time to reconnect with friends scattered around the world.  Also, it is a fantastic gathering of great lectures, top-notch performances, and meaningful interaction with artists.  Here are my sketchbook scans from the weekend:

Jacob Marshall, of the band Mae.

Dan Siedell

Kevin Gosa

Patrick Carmichael, who found my notebook on the train and returned it!
David Sacks

Also, illustrator extraordinaire and friend John Hendrix and I attended the opening of the Society of Illustrators 52 Advertising & Institutional exhibition.  It is always great to see original illustrations, and even better to meet artists I've looked up to for years!
The stairway, lined with original portraits of former Society presidents.
